Link Round Up: 1.1.11

Did I just read that right? 1.1.11? MP900448558

Wow, how time flies! We have officially embarked on our journey into the great unknown that is 2011. The new year is always full of promise and ambition, and no matter what you have in store for 2011, I’m sure it has big things in store for you.

I have a post coming up on Monday about how to succeed at that the ever-popular weight loss New Year’s Resolution, but before we get to that, or to this week’s links, I thought I’d share my resolutions with you.

In 2010, I resolved to:

  • Lose 10 pounds (success!)
  • Complete a triathlon (multiple successes!)
  • Eat more meals at home and provide healthier foods for us (success!)

I’m proud of all three successes, but I’m proud of the third one, in particular, as it has brought me so much joy to learn to be a better cook, get creative in the kitchen, and start this blog. I’m not sure I can follow the impact of these three items in 2011, but here is what I am thinking so far:

  • Complete a half-ironman triathlon (swim 1.2 miles; bike 56 miles; run 13.1 miles). I have signed up for Ironman Boise 70.3 in June, so we’re at least going in the right direction here.
  • Clean out the clutter in my life. Now that our remodel is completely done, it’s time to go through lots and lots of boxes that haven’t been opened in four years.
  • Comb through all our monthly expenses and make as many practical reductions as possible. First on the list: the cell phone bill. If one has 15,000 unused rollover minutes, it’s safe to assume one has a cell plan that is a bit excessive.

Now, on to the real business. Here are the articles I found interesting this week on the WWW and in the blogosphere.

Happy Weekend, all!
